About Us

The Fairview Fire Department, located in Fairview Heights, IL, started as the Fairview Improvement League around 1930. This organization became very active in 1933. The Fire District was charted in the State of Illinois in 1940.
The Fairview Fire Department is comprised of 3 full-time and 35 part-time members at this time. They handle daily fire service requirements, man the fire fighting apparatus when called upon to extinguish fires, conduct fire prevention inspections, extrication for accident victims and fire prevention education.
To most people we are called the Fairview Heights Fire Department. This is not true, the City of Fairview Heights does not have a fire department. We are a Fire Protection District. The Fairview Fire Department was formed in 1933, before the city. The Fairview Fire Department has the majority of the city to protect, there are small parts that rely on other departments. We are goverened by the Trustees of the Fairview-Caseyville Fire Protection District. The City of Fairview Heights is actually protected by 6 fire departments.
These departments are as follows; Fairview Fire Department, French Village Fire Department, O'Fallon Fire Department, Northwest Fire Department, Hollywood Heights Fire Department, & East Side Fire Department.
